Prohibit NYC Spring/Summer 2011

The inspiration for the Spring 2011 collection from Prohibit NYC comes from the American Prohibition Era of the 1920′s. A controversial and sometimes sordid moment of American history, prohibition was the time when the sale and manufacturing of alcohol was made illegal. It was also the time when Bootleggers, moonshine-bandits, and police raids became part of the national consciousness like never before.

Prohibit NYC draws inspiration from the style and mood of the era and can be seen in the dark tones and muted palette of the collection. Subtle patterns, tweeds, and raw denim make reference to the period without being overt, and staying true to the modern sensibility of the brand. The Spring/Summer look book features some familiar New York faces as its models – Joshua Kissi and Travis Gumbs of Street Etiquette, singer/rapper Rich Hill, urban creative Va$htie, and writer Emeka Obi all make an appearance.  [via] Check out the looks after the jump,
