Jesse Boykins III – Prototype

Jesse Boykins III has been on the grind and independent circuit for a few years now and I’ve been a fan his work dating back to 2008.  Well,  lately he’s been on the road touring, making appearances and working in the studio.

During his shows, he’s opened with a cover of Andre 3000’s hit off of Outkast’s diamond selling, The Love Below, called “Prototype”. This song has always been a favorite of mine, but JBIII took this song to a higher level with the help of Melo-X & Trae Harris.  I mean, this sh*t is beautiful…like first night of your honeymoon, beautiful (Am I gonna have to go and kick a puppy to regain my gangsta-ism after making that statement?…nah.)  I guess the buzz of this opening gem in his concerts must have nudged him to record it in a studio session.  Take a listen, you won’t be sorry…

You can download it here.  Hit the jump to see JBIII perform it,

It’s hard to re-make a classic…well done JBIII!
